Darst. PY - 2014 N1 - Aachen, Techn. Hochsch., Diss., 2014 AB - This work deals with the development of high-efficient, large-area OLED for lighting applications. Technological barriers, which limit the use of OLED for lighting applications, are analyzed and in a following step solved. 25 cm² OLED are driven at higher electrical power to increase the OLED luminance. It turns out that the generation of heat, caused by dissipation losses, accelerates the OLED degradation. As a first solution of this problem OLED area has been increased to achieve higher luminance at lower electrical power densities. This solution is very expensive caused by lower yield and process output. A second solution is the increase of external quantum efficiency by the use of new transperent contact materials, which is presented in this work. This promising approach could be the next step to increase the efficiency and lower the price for OLED lighting.
