Hochsch., Diss., 2007 %X The elastic modulus of concrete is an important value for matters of design, execution, serviceability and durability. Starting from the definition of elastic modulus the aim of this thesis was to quantify the influence of the interfacial transition zone between cement matrix and aggregates to get more realistic results when modelling the elastic modulus of concrete. On the basis of a testing programme the thesis showed which influence the interfacial transition zone exerts on the elastic modulus. Hence, the results of this programme and the conclusions drawn were used to define a so-called binding factor for an existing model. This binding factor represents the ITZ. The test results for the modulus of elasticity were dependent on the amount of ITC in the samples. This dependence was determined as a linear one. Subsequently, the existing approach – a combination of serial and parallel layers – could be improved. By a comparison of test results with FE-methods the linear dependence between the amount of ITZ and the modulus of elasticity was confirmed. However, the results also displayed that the ITZ had a stronger influence on the modulus of elasticity than the existing models had been able to predict so far. %K Elastizitätsmodul (SWD) %K Modellierung (SWD) %K Beton (SWD) %F PUB:(DE-HGF)11 ; PUB:(DE-HGF)3 %9 Dissertation / PhD ThesisBook %U https://publications.rwth-aachen.de/record/49915
