abstract = {The intent of this study was to examine the quality of the
margins of composite fillings in Er,Cr:YSGG laser-prepared
cavities in comparison to conventionally prepared and
conditioned fillings. Another aim was to establish wether
cavity preparation by means of an erbium laser with
efficient water cooling is capable of reducing the
susceptibility of enamel to deminaralization and thus of
achieving a caries-protective effect. The statistical
analysis revealed significantly higher dye penetration rates
for Er,Cr:YSGG laser-prepared cavities in comparison to
conventionally prepared and conditioned fillings. Enamel
cavities prepared with erbium lasers displayed a signifivant
accelaration of demineralization compared to conventionally
prepared cavities.},
