%X Upon following the way of the ‘Balint idea’ - which was originally conceived and developed for general practitioners – it is apparent that over the last few decades there is a clear development internationally with varied modifications and increase in the type of techniques and methods (less in its targets). The essence of the Balint idea has continued unchanged. Balintgroups are nowadays often heterogenous: The participation of young doctors, older experienced doctors and other professional groups like psychologists, nursing stuff or ergotherapists (professional groups which work in interactionfields: “integrated Balintwork”), in the same way as the integration of role play elements, of systemic, imaginative conceivabilities and techniques in the groups, have clearly enlarged the range of application and let different professional groups benefit together from the Balintwork. The integration of this varied knowledge perspective of the patient into the Balintwork offers a valuable exchange and within here lays among other things its clinical and practical gain: everyone learns from the other one independent of there niveau of graduation or profession. The use of pictures, poems, sounds and role plays in the Balintwork can sharpen the understanding and make clear moments of transference, countertransference or resistance. The doctor-patient relationship is still the epicentre of the common work undertaken by the participants of a Balintgroup. The relation to the patient is for a Balintdoctor more wholistic resp. integrated and patientorientated. Balintwork gives the doctor a more precise, empathic and practicable understanding of the doctor-patient relationship. The relief of the pressure of apostolic postulates, the giving up of omnipotence-fantasies and the verbalization of helplessness brings the participants more satisfaction, resulting in less of frustration and burnout. All these contribute to the psycho hygiene. The participants become more confident, more effective, more relaxed and more human. To follow up the future developpment of Balintwork a stanardisated evaluation is essential. With this thesis a perfected concept of a questionary with all essential aspects of Balintwork has been created besides providing a thorough analysis of the actual questionary. This concept of questionary can be used in further investigations. Essential are the facts that the participants of the questionary in further investigations should have an experience in Balintwork of at least three years or that the participants should have comparable duration of experience in Balintwork. A questionary to evaluate the function of co leaders has been created in this thesis, which until now has been less investigated. The limits between the different procedures with their different settings had become over the years more and more fluent. Balintwork is conducted in different ways, in different composition and with variant integrated elements. In some places, there exist ambitions to adapt the framework of Balintwork to the different necessities of the participiants in our time. But first, the main question has to be answered, in which direction Balintwork should be developped. Should the traditional method of Balintwork be conserved, should it develop within the essential skeletal structure or should it open up towards other fields and change within them? It is possible to delimit the different settings that are named Balintwork better from each other and to let them develop each one by itself, to satisfy requirements and targets of the particular group.
