Bestehenden Untersuchungen zu Qualitätskulturen mangelt es gerade aus Sicht deutscher Unternehmen jedoch an realistischen Entwicklungszielen für Organisationskulturen sowie an konkreten Bezügen zu Qualitätspraktiken. Auch liegen bisher keine Untersuchungen vor, die diskutieren, wie sich Qualitätskulturen in den zunehmend digitalisierten, sogenannten cyber-physischen Produktionssysteme der Zukunft entwickeln. In einer deutschlandweiten Studie wurden Daten über die Organisationskulturen und das Qualitätsmanagement von fast 500 produzierenden Unternehmen erhoben. In deren Analyse konnten besonders die nur indirekt messbaren, stark positiven Effekte sogenannter Klan-Kulturen aufgedeckt werden. Klan-Kulturen, die unter anderem für eine hohe Mitarbeiterverantwortung sowie flexible Problemlösung stehen, sind in der Stichprobe zu etwa 40% dafür verantwortlich, dass Qualitätspraktiken – wie etwa 8D Methode oder FMEA – ihre volle Wirkung entfalten. In cyber-physischen Produktionssystemen werden Klan-Kulturen zudem notwendig sein, um die wachsende, technisch induzierte Komplexität zu beherrschen. Die Arbeit bietet zum ersten Mal einen auf praktische Maßnahmen ausgerichteten, empirisch fundierten Zugang zur Gestalt von Qualitätskulturen im deutschsprachigen Raum sowie zu deren Entwicklung im Zeitalter der Digitalisierung. Especially from the viewpoint of practitioners, existing research on quality cultures has significant shortcomings though: It’s focus are idealistic instead of realistic organisational development goals and it makes little specific statements on the complex interactions between organisational cultures and quality practices. In addition, no research is available, which discusses how quality cultures will have to develop in the cyber-physical production systems of the future, which are considered to be one of production businesses’ major challenges. In the course of the present work, data has been gathered on the organisational cultures and the quality management of almost 500 producing businesses in the German speaking environment. The analysis of the data has especially revealed the strongly positive but largely indirect effects of so-called Clan cultures. These Clan cultures, which are characterised by high levels of employee responsibility as well as flexible problem solving, have been identified to be responsible for 40% of the success of quality practices – such as 8D Method or FMEA. In cyber-physical production systems, clan cultures will additionally be strongly needed to cope with the growing levels of technology induced complexity. The present work for the first time provides a practice oriented but empirically founded access to quality cultures in German speaking producing businesses and to the topic’s developments in the age of digitisation.
