Durch ihr Werk und ihre Lehrtätigkeit an der Hochschule für Architektur und Design (AHO) in Oslo, hat sie ihren Beitrag zur norwegischen Architekturentwicklung geleistet und die nachfolgende Architektengeneration mitgeprägt. Für ihre Arbeit wurde Selmer 1963 der Sundts Preis und 1969 der norwegische Holzpreis verliehen. Marked by national search for identity and the influence of international architectural movements, Wenche Selmer had developed her own architectural language in between tradition and modernism. She actively participated in the architectural discussions ofher time. Through her work and her teaching at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) she made a major contribution to the Norwegian Architectural development and influenced the subsequent generations of architects. Selmer was awarded in 1963 with the Sundts Prize and in 1969 with the Norwegian Wood prize.
