AB  - The linguistic encoding of emotions can shape children's language skills as well as their perception and conceptualizations. In this context, a corpus (120 texts) of bilingual children's books in the language combinations German-French and German-Italian was analyzed, in order to describe the differences and the similarities in the linguistic encoding of emotions. This research combines a focus on both linguistic relativity and potentially universal mechanisms of conceptualization, like embodiment. The research methodology employs a qualitative approach to investigate and describe denotation and connotation. Quantitative corpus data are also included in the assessment for a deeper understanding of the results.
