%X Powder Bed Fusion of Metal with Laser Beam (PBF-LB/M) is one of the additive processes used in series production of complex engine components. Process-related design options offer weight savings inengine operation and, as a result, enormous potential for future engine generations. The premise for the usability of PBF-LB/M components in aerospace applications are reproducible and build platform-independent component characteristics, such as density or surface roughness, which can only be guaranteed to a limited extent. Thus, local variations within the process characteristics, such as energy input, powder application or shielding gas flow, can cause an influence on crack-initiating component characteristics, therefore affecting the fatigue behavior. Within the scope of this work, the influence of local process characteristics on the crack-initiating component characteristics is identified, evaluated and influenced by means of process and machine adaptations. While the process characteristics are initially examined by means of ahomogeneity analysis regarding their build platform dependency, the respective influence evaluation of the component characteristics is then carried out by means of regression models. Based on the results, a synthesis of homogenization concepts including the corresponding designis conducted. Finally, the changes in the process characteristics caused by the homogenization concepts used are quantified and the regression models are validated with the measurement results.
