Kurzfassung
Die Bauwirtschaft ist einer der ressourcen- und abfallintensivsten Wirtschaftssektoren. Aktuell lenken singuläre Planungsperspektiven in Bauprojekten die Konzentration insbesondere auf eine effizientere Ausrichtung der Ausführungs- sowie Betriebsphase. Darüber hinaus schließen traditionelle Projektabwicklungsformen im Hochbau und Infrastrukturbereich überwiegend nur die Planung und den Bau der baulichen Anlagen ein. Eine holistische Betrachtung aller Lebenszyklusphasen und der anfallenden Lebenszykluskosten einer baulichen Anlage findet derzeit kaum statt.Das Konzept der Circular Economy liefert neben ökologischen und sozialen Vorteilen auch insbesondere ökonomische Anreize für Unternehmen, der beschriebenen linearen Sichtweise und den steigenden Herausforderungen im Rahmen des Klimawandels sowie der zunehmenden Ressourcenverknappung proaktiv entgegenzuwirken. Die Modulbauweise stellt unter anderem angesichts der stationären Fertigungsbedingungen und der Modularität einen idealen Ausgangspunkt für die Implementierung des Konzepts der Circular Economy im Bausektor dar.Die übergeordnete Zielsetzung dieser Dissertation ist, einen ganzheitlichen Beitrag zur Implementierung der Circular Economy in den Modulbausektor unter Berücksichtigung der Besonderheiten des deutschen Baumarktes zu konzipieren und damit einen Beitrag zu leisten, den Transformationsprozess hin zu einer nachhaltigen deutschen Bauwirtschaft zu unterstützen und eine Forschungsgrundlage für die zukünftige weitere wissenschaftliche Durchdringung des Themengebiets zu schaffen. Im Detail wird ein bislang nicht existierendes Strategiemodell zur Implementierung des Konzepts der Circular Economy für Modulbauhersteller in Deutschland unter Würdigung der sektorspezifischen Anforderungen entwickelt. Das Strategiemodell und die dazugehörigen Handlungsempfehlungen dienen als Ordnungsrahmen, um das Konzept der Circular Economy strategisch und ganzheitlich zu verankern, professionell, replizier- und steuerbar zu gestalten sowie wirkungsvoll umzusetzen.

The construction industry is one of the most resource- and waste-intensive sectors. Currently, singular planning perspectives in construction projects steer the focus especially towards a more efficient orientation of the execution as well as the operation phase. In addition, traditional project delivery methods in the building construction and infrastructure sectors predominantly include only the design and construction of the building facilities. At present, there is hardly any holistic consideration of all lifecycle phases and the lifecycle costs incurred by a building facility.In addition to ecological and social benefits, the concept of the Circular Economy also provides economic incentives for companies to proactively counteract the linear view described above and the increasing challenges posed by climate change and the growing scarcity of resources. In view of the stationary manufacturing conditions and modularity, among other things, the modular construction method represents an ideal starting point for implementing the concept of the Circular Economy in the construction sector.The overall objective of this dissertation is to conceptualize a holistic contribution to the implementation of the Circular Economy in the modular construction sector, taking into account the specifics of the German construction market, thus contributing to support the transformation process towards a sustainable German construction industry and providing a research basis for further scientific penetration of the topic in the future. In detail, a yet non-existing strategy model for the implementation of the concept of the Circular Economy for modular construction manufacturers in Germany will be developed, taking into account the sector-specific requirements. The strategy model and the associated recommendations for action serve as a framework for integrating the concept of the Circular Economy strategically and holistically, for making it professional, replicable and controllable, and for implementing it effectively.
