%X Suitable testing and modelling methods are required to generate strain rate dependent composite properties of continuous fibre reinforced plastics using multi-scale approaches. In this work, quasi-static testing methods were successfully transferred to the drop tower to measure the mechanical properties under perpendicular loading and representative micromodels were created to calculate the composite properties. The challenge in the tests was to measure the local stress state due to inertia and superimposed vibrations. The modelling of the test setup as a spring-mass model with strain rate-independent spring stiffnesses shows that derived material properties strongly depend on the test setup. The investigation to develop representative micromodels revealed that the properties of the fibre-matrix interface significantly influence the composite properties under perpendicular tensile loading. In addition, it was successfully shown that the strain rate-dependent damage behaviour of the composite can be represented by micro models.
