Currently, different computer-aided software solutions exist for the prediction of drapability. The use of such programmes is time-consuming and cost-intensive, since material maps are determined expetentially and computationally intensive operations are carried out. The aim of the present work is therefore the development of a new, fast, cost-effective and easy-to-use procedure for the prediction of the drapability of reinforcement textiles, starting from the designed component geometry. The approach is to calculate the material shear based on the component surface curvature. In order to achieve this goal, a methodology is developed and transferred into a software tool.
