AB - Component-integrated Fixture Features (CFF) have the potential to reduce cost and time-intensive fixtures in automotive body shops through component integration. Based on a systematic literature and patent review on CFF, the research gap was derived in order to develop the knowledge gain of this Thesis: a cross-process step system knowledge for the design of CFF. Through the design of experiments, laser beam cutting, assembly, and remote laser beam welding experiments were performed individually and along the process chain to generate a system knowledge and synthesized into design guidelines. For the methodical application of the system knowledge, a design catalog for CFF was developed based on VDI 2222 and integrated into a CFF methodology as part of a synthesis of existing methodologies. Complementary to this, a production catalog with associated methodology was developed, representing the possibility of designing a production with CFF. Finally, the knowledge gained in this Thesis was evaluated using two case studies, and possibilities for transferability are outlined.
