%X The thesis “The role of Fetuin-B in the process of human fertilization”, written by Janina Krebs, examines the influence of Fetuin-B on the fertilization. The thesis investigates the association between Fetuin-B and fertilization rates (number of fertilized eggs) during an ART-Therapy (assisted reproductive technology). More precisely, the author analyses Fetuin-B’s ability to act as a biological prognostic marker. An additional research question of the thesis is, if Fetuin-B is influenced by characteristics such as age, body-mass-index (BMI), nicotine consumption, primary or secondary infertility. Therefore, Fetuin-B levels were measured multiple times from 101 patients that underwent ART-therapy for the first time. ELISA-technique was used for subsequent analysis. The main result is that Fetuin-B significantly increases during successful fertilization (fertilization rate >25
