abstract = {In this study, the recording of mandibular movements was
tested and analyzed using four inertial measurement units.
The tests were carried out with two specially manufactured
sensor frames for intraoral anchoring. To obtain data, a
comparative test was designed to investigate the mode of
action of the Aqualizer. The results prove that the
acquisition is possible and that the measurement data can be
analyzed in the form of cardan angles. On the one hand, it
can be hypothesized that two inertial measurement units are
sufficient for motion detection and, on the other hand, that
the Aqualizer can bring about significant changes in
specific test subjects. However, the pilot study was unable
to verify the new hypotheses due to the small number of test
