abstract = {This dissertation paper focuses on the emotional-social
challenges in shaping an unusual academic pathway faced by
students on the third educational pathway. Third-chance
education has become increasingly popular, especially in the
last decade. My interest in third path studies is primarily
focused on the emotional-social feelings and challenges
faced by students who do not have a baccalaureate. In
contrast to the first and second educational pathways,
students on the third educational pathway have not
experienced any baccalaureate socialization. They qualify
exclusively through vocational degrees and work experience.
Against this background, this dissertation writing is about
the entry into a foreign university world and a possible
change of the personal world. Using the research style of
Reflexive Grounded Theory, narrative interviews with
individuals who study or studied without a baccalaureate
degree were used to elaborate the phenomena of
                      Unüblichkeitsempfinden and Legitimitätszweifel. Based on
this, a theory of the phenomena was designed, which
illuminates further contextual conditions and also ways of
dealing with them in the form of certain strategies and
describes consequences. From this, a counseling concept for
students on the third educational path could be designed, so
that the transition from the professional world to the
university world can be simplified for them. In addition,
there is the possibility of intercepting difficulties in the
university world and the personal world.},
