In the research project DROVA (drone-based traffic analysis to optimize the use of existing infrastructure) a procedure for the automated, single-vehicle-based analysis of traffic-flow is being developed. This developement is being tested via ramp metering demonstration units in junctions and construction sites of longer duration in the highway area. To implement the method the creation of a digital topography model, which displays the infrastructure in the form of the driving area with a division of lanes is required. These are derived on the basis of a photogrammetric process from single photos captured by unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and are displayed for further analysis through a point cloud. The point cloud is to be used later as a description of the driving space. To this effect, regarding a possible reuse, procedures are to be developed through which the point cloud is prepared as a 3D-model and (singular) objects can be visualised. The AgiSoft Metashape program was used to generate the point cloud.Through the meta information of the single photos these are cut by means of pattern identification and depicted via a point cloud. In this way the record contains a multitude of points whereby every point is to be assigned the following information: longitude, latitude, height, colour value in the RGB colour space through the additive mix of the three base colours Red (R), Green (G) und Blue (B), normal vector for the point in reference to the area for the shadowing in the three dimensional representation. The georeferencing of the point cloud is available in UTM map (WGS 84) in the n-th zone (EPSG code 25832).
