Kurzfassung
The Mobile2Mobile project aims to collect and provide field data from mobile Android devices, thereby supporting international battery research.
Developers of battery aging models or state estimators often face the challenge of lacking a dataset from real applications. Mobile2Mobile addresses this challenge and delivers a continuously growing open-source dataset.
Why mobile devices? Most mobile devices have a single cell. Thus, these devices serve as single-cell tests with real application loads. The battery community is warmly invited to utilize the data.
Who can participate? Anyone with an Android smartphone can take part in the data collection. The feature is optional and can be found in the free RWTHapp available on the Play Store.
A registration is not required.
Time frame: Data collection began on 14. January 2026 and will continue to record battery data until further notice. As a result, the overall dataset will continue to grow and provide a comprehensive overview of battery behaviour in mobile applications. The dataset for this publication consists of data from 14.01.2026 until 15.04.2026.
