Kurzfassung
While classical continuous Galerkin methods must be piecewise affine conforming (continuous), dGmethods can be applied for discontinuities across element boundaries by application of piecewise constant approximates within each element and the use of slope limiters to ensure stability for higher order schemes. In the present work, a dG method is applied to a linear elastic bar, where a weak discontinuity is allowed in the bar.
